We’re delighted to welcome Denby Dale Pies into the Country Style Family.
Denby Dale and its giant pies has quite the backstory. For over 220 years, Denby Dale has been home to the largest ever pies, including the 1988 effort, which claimed the Guinness World Record for the biggest ever meat and potato pie. Their home is the ‘pie village’ of Denby Dale, a world‐famous and record‐breaking community, with an immense history of creating gigantic pies, dating all the way back to the very first in 1788.
Pies are created in the village to mark occasions of national importance or celebration, with King George’s return to sanity marking the first, the most recent being the Millennium Pie, which served over 22,000 people. Including a feature on BBC One’s The Great British Bake Off , they’ve often been the talk of the television, with The Great Northern Cookbook and The Hairy Bikers both taking a look at their award‐winning pies.
The village’s pies have had their own poem, a BBC Radio One Roadshow broadcasting live from their 1988 event, and they’ve even had a Royal visit when Princess Anne got her own piece of history back in 2013.
